NCAA Basketball Champions - Kansas Jayhawks   Chris

I have watched this whole championship game on the edge of my seat, waiting to see the madness continue. Of course, one last time March Madness does not disappoint with a very good game until the last buzzer.

Final Four Scoreboard

No Memphis its not you cutting down the nets tonight.

Kansas was able to contain Rose the whole 1st half and dominate Memphis on the boards (37-27) the whole game. Kansas came up big when they needed and held the Tigers in big spots at the end of the game.

Memphis finally became a victim to their own weakness, Free Throws! Wow, I guess ESPN finally got this right, after 3 weeks of saying they were going to lose. Chris Douglas-Roberts misses 2 free throws at the end of the game to stay up by only 1 point. Then, Derrick Rose misses his first and make his second to only go up 3. Mario Chalmers made a 3 pointer to tie the game with 2.1 seconds left and go into overtime, where the Jayhawks dominated from beginning to end.

Congratulations to the Jayhawks on a great game and their 3rd National Championship!

And Congratulations to Mario Chalmers on winning the Most Outstanding Player Award with 18 points, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds.

Must I mention they didn’t loose the game because they couldn’t shoot free throws, they lost because Calipari blew it as a coach. You have to call a timeout after the 2nd free throw by Rose. Tell your team foul after some time has gone off the clock and only let Kansas bring it to a 1 point lead.

Even then, lets assume they play the game straight up (which they did), Mario Chalmers hit a ridiculous shot to tie the game. Also a timeout after Chalmers hits the three would’ve been smart, TIME OUTS DON’T ROLL OVER CALIPARI.

I know I wont give it a rest, but they didn’t loose the game at the line, they lost it because they didn’t execute late in the game.

bull shit andy!! free throws cost memphis the title. no doubt about it.

chalmers’ last second THREE pointer tied the game which means memphis was only up by three points (no shit). memphis missed three FREE throws before chalmers’ shot. lets do some math….the 3 point lead memphis had plus the 3 points they WOULD’VE gotten had they made those last FREE throws adds up to 6 points (3+3=6)…right??…last time i checked there arent any 6 point shots in basketball. if CDR or Rose had made one free throw, just one, chalmers’ three point bucket wouldnt have made a difference.

the players are the ones playing the game, not the coaches. Calipari calling a time out might have made a difference in the out come but at the end of it all, it still comes down to whether or not the kid can make a free throw, which they didnt.

The entire game doesn’t rest on free throws. The same way you say just one free throw, I say just one defensive stop. Just one more layup. Just one more 3 pointer. Just one more steal. If you lose there’s just a one more of everything. Calipari got outcoached.

First of all the free throws cost them in regulation, so even if you want to make the claim that they lost the game because of free throws, what about OT execution? There was an extra five minutes even after Chalmers drained the trey.

Also if you heard the press conference Calipari gave up once Rose missed the first free throw. How sad is it when your coach gives up on you. I agree that players win and loose the game, but when its a college sport the coach has more bearing on the game. Remember these people are younger than us and they’re on sports scholarships (not academic).

Like I always make fun of Riley and his Wade iso play, Calipari must of stole Riley’s playbook calling CDR iso.

if they wouldve made the free throws there wouldn’t have been the need for OT. There was obviously other reasons Memphis lost the game but when they had the title within reach, their two best players chocked at the free throw line.
