Lots of sports going on this weekend in South Florida. My plan is to give everyone a little run down on some local sports and some prime-time action. First off we’ll begin with a little sports news and a little school named Miami Christian.
Thursday Miami Christian beat Westminstern Christian to win the 16-2A district championsip in baseball. Winning with a score of 10-8, makes this the first win for the Victors against Westminstern. Congratulations to Miami Christian on their title.
On a little larger scale, the University of Florida Gymnastics team will be competing in Georgia as one of the Super Six, in the team finals. Among other teams, Florida will take on three-time defending champion Georgia.
This weekend in South Florida the Stanford International Pro Am will be held at The Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club. 112 LPGA Professionals with 112 amateurs in a 54-hole stroke play tournament, competing for a $2,000,000 purse.
Next up is the Florida Marlins. The Marlins play a three game set against the Milwaukee Brewers this weekend. The series will be in Milwaukee at Miller Park, where Scott Olsen takes the mound on Friday afternoon.
Finally, we have the Miami Dolphins and the NFL Draft. The Dolphins have already signed their number 1 draft pick in Jake Long. Now the Dolphins look toward the second round in which they hold the first pick. The draft begins Saturday April 26, 3:00 p.m. ET and will continue Sunday April 27, 10 a.m. ET.
